How to copy DVDs onto hard drive in XviD/AVI format? (DVD to XviD)
123 DVD Converter is a powerful and easy-to-use Windows application that lets you convert your DVD movies to high quality AVI (DivX, XviD...), WMV, iPod, PSP, MP4, 3GP, VCD (MPEG-1) and SVCD (MPEG-2) formats. It also extracts audio tracks from DVDs.
XviD is a popular format for viewing DVD movies on PCs due to its high compression rate. The DVD copied and compressed by XviD is of high quality and takes up less room on hard drive.
Select the root directory of your DVD disk in the previous step and press OK. The root directory could be either your DVD drive or the DVD folder which contains a standard DVD movie.
Step 4:
Now your DVD is ready to begin. Notice that selected title has the longest time in duration. This is probably going to be the one you want to convert.
Step 5:
RIGHT-CLICK on the title that you want to convert to change the output name.
Step 6:
Enter the new output name.
Step 7:
Press the "Options" button to configure the AVI video settings.
Step 8:
Set the video codec to XviD.
If you cannot find Xvid in the list, please click here install it.
Step 9:
If your source DVD is NTSC (USA), set the frame rate as 29.97/23.976 and the resolution as 720/480.
If your source DVD is PAL (Europe and the rest of the world), set the output frame rate as 25 and the resolution as 720/576.
Step 10 (optional)
Only ifyou found that video is not in sync with the audio, try the four options (None, Auto, Enhance, Force) in the drop-down list of "Audio Problem" each on 2 minutes piece and see which one works.
Step 11:
Double-check the title, the output type, the subtitle, set the output directory, and press the Start button.
Step 12:
Sit back and watch your movie convert before your very eyes!
